Downtown Vancouver Penthouse Project

This kitchen is a beautiful example of transitional design at its best, by keeping the original island cabinets that were done in a traditional shaker style and then bringing in new modern glass and white matte painted cabinets from Merit Kitchens it is a seem less mix of the two styles. The counters are quite unique with a 12” x 24” tile edged in a stunning stainless to match to the glass cabinet frames. By changing out the old fluorescent lighting for a more updated look of pot lights and pendants the designer was able to brighten up the original dark kitchen. One of the biggest improvements was to remove the old pantry and open up the space, but still keep all the storage by adding a wall of tall cabinets. By continuing to re-use the old the client has revamped an old sparkplug holder into a spice rack on the wall. This kitchen is a true beauty and shows that we don’t always have to do renovate it all, but can sometimes use some of the old to work with the New.

A Kitchen Makes the Home

Jun 08, 2009 by Merit Kitchens

After 12 years, the family of this comfortable West coast contemporary home in Gordon Head decided to renovate their kitchen and bathrooms. The large 4500 sq ft house had an extremely generous eat-in kitchen with a walk out deck, but unfortunately, it was particularly awkward and ugly. Stripping the entire old kitchen to build it in a new design would transform the room into a place that was a pleasure to be in — full of light, space, and gorgeous garden views.
